Jack completed an undergraduate Masters degree in Pharmacology at the University of Bath. This included a placement at a clinical-stage biotechnology company focussed on developing therapies targeting G protein-coupled rectors (GPCRs).
Jack then moved to the University of Nottingham to complete a four-year PhD program. This involved rotation projects in three different labs and a three-month industrial placement at a drug discovery contract research organisation. His core project was in the fields of molecular pharmacology and drug discovery and focussed on understanding how the physiochemical properties of drugs affect their biological functions. In particular, this involved studying membrane bound receptors and the use of fluorescently labelled drugs and proteins. From working in several different labs Jack developed a wide range of skills and knowledge of techniques in molecular biology, biological/drug discovery assays, cell culture and microscopy/spectroscopy. He is currently awaiting a viva voce examination.
Jack is a trainee patent attorney at Script IP, working in both the Frome and Southampton offices. He is working towards becoming a UK and EU qualified patent attorney.
I’m indebted to the team at Script IP for consistently helping to keep my clients happy and achieving IP objectives on time and within budget.
