Following graduation, William won a Glaxo-Wellcome Prize Scholarship leading to his PhD. He was then awarded a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Institute for Cancer Research, London. This included appointment as an Honorary Lecturer of the University of London.
William joined the patent profession in 1998. He began his career at D Young & Co., training as a patent attorney, before joining K.R.Bryer & Co. in 2007. He co-founded Script IP in 2012.
His clients have included numerous universities and research institutes, early stage companies (many started at and/or spun out of academic organisations), UK and overseas SMEs, as well as multinational companies. William has experience of the differing requirements across the complete spectrum of clients from individual inventors to international corporations.
William has taken part in successful Examiner Interviews in the US Patent and Trade Mark Office.
William regularly lectures on external courses and seminars. In particular he delivers courses for trainee patent attorneys preparing for their qualifying examinations, which include the United Kingdom examination "Final Diploma Paper 4" (Patent Infringement and Validity), as well as the European examinations for "Patent Drafting" and "Patent Amendment".
